I have over 130gb of files stored in sharepoint and would like to access them via the finder on the mac, but all I can see is the option to sync folders to the HDD. I don't want to do this as I want to save HDD space and have them online only. However, Microsoft says that in order to access files on demand, I need to have Mojave OS installed. OneDrive Files On-Demand helps you access all your files in OneDrive without having to download all of them and use storage space on your device. When you turn on Files On-Demand, you’ll see all your files in Mac Finder and get new information about each file. Not exactly the same but you can use ExpanDrive to get OneDrive Files on Demand on the Mac. It lets you mount OneDrive/OneDrive for Business and Sharepoint as a network drive with offline sync, etc on Mac. For owners of a Mac that use Microsoft’s OneDrive service, there’s a new feature to be aware of. Thurrot had the report out first on Friday, indicating that Microsoft had finally rolled out Files-on-Demand for OneDrive users on a Mac. Microsoft has actually been testing the feature since September of last year.
There are two basic ways that you, as an admin, can deploy the OneDrive sync app to Mac users in your organization:
Manage OneDrive settings on macOS using property list (Plist) files
After the OneDrive sync app for Mac is installed, users can configure settings for the app. These settings are called preferences. As an admin, you might want to provide users in your organization with a standard set of preferences. Preferences for the OneDrive sync app for Mac are stored in preference files. These files are often referred to as .plist files.

Use the following keys to preconfigure or change settings for your users. The keys are the same whether you run the standalone or Mac App Store edition of the sync app, but the property list file name and domain name will be different. When you apply the settings, make sure to target the appropriate domain depending on the edition of the sync app.
You can also configure the OneDrive Standalone sync app to receive delayed updates.

To set the file attribute state for all items within a folder, add the /r parameter.
Pinning an online-only file makes the sync app download the file contents, and unpinning a downloaded file frees up space on the device by not storing the file contents locally. To set an online-only file or folder to 'locally available,' you must first set it to 'always available.' Comments are closed.
